International Indigenous Music Summit 2023

The International Indigenous Music Summit (IIMS) is the largest global event solely dedicated to celebrating, creating awareness, sharing resources, and building opportunities for the Indigenous music community. IIMS 2023 will take place May 31-June 4, 2023 at the TD Music Hall and key performance venues across Toronto. The event will shine a spotlight on over 40 incredible Indigenous artists from around the world, and will feature a traditional welcoming ceremony and feast, opening night Gala, and daytime programming including elder talks, keynotes, B2B networking sessions, master classes and community roundtables.

Shauit: Shauit, originally from Maliotenam in northeastern Quebec, sings songs strongly inspired by his Innu roots and traditional music. He fuses several popular genres (folk, roots, reggae, etc.) and offers honest, committed songs filled with emotions and personal experiences.
Quique Escamilla: JUNO Award-winning, Quique Escamilla, a Mayan-Zapotec singer-songwriter born in Chiapas, Mexico is an international touring artist and producer based in Toronto, Canada. Quique breaks down language barriers with his voice and passionate performances fusing traditional Mexican and Pan-American rhythms and sounds, such as ranchera, huapango and cumbia with contemporary elements of folk, rock and blues.
Classic Roots: Classic Roots mixes northern rhythms with techno and basslines. His uplifting, tribal, techno, and groovy bassline sounds promote cultural liberty. Classic Roots' programmes include smart mixing. He makes hot, happy music. Using First Nations drumming and singing in his electronic compositions honours his nation's resilience. Classic Roots encourages ambitions.
