Tranzac Presents: Development Residency Talk & Performance featuring Tasneem & Teagan Johnston

September 16, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

As part of their residency at Tranzac, multi-disciplinary artist Tasneem will talk about being a composer and musician for their own short film, discuss how climate change has impacted their residency, and perform a few songs they have written during their time at Tranzac. They have invited fellow Tranzac resident, composer, and songwriter Teagan Johnston to perform and talk as well about her process. After they perform there will be a brief Q & A.

Tasneem is a bilingual (English & French) Canadian- American multi disciplinary artist and activist with roots in East Africa. Their focus is on music, acting, writing, & filmmaking. Musically, their alternative sound is a consequence of a multi cultural upbringing. They seek to create work and tell stories that amplify their unique voice and experience.

Teagan Johnston is a singer-songwriter who drives the genre beyond its current borders, bringing a radical rawness to her work that hits you in your heart.  Born in the Yukon, raised between South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the West Coast of Canada, Teagan brings a vast & ever layered perspective to her work.

We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts for Tranzac's residency program."
