Queermunity

Announcing Queermunity, a queer-curated series taking place at the Tranzac

Queermunity, Tranzac’s queer-curated event series kicks off this month and will feature performances, dances, and a workshop during the fall and winter.

Numerous 2SLGBTQIAP artists, members, and patrons have found a home at the Tranzac. Queermunity is an opportunity to celebrate that history while creating new connections among community members and audiences.

Building on the success of the 2021-22 Tranzac presents series, our programming team is thrilled to be working alongside several curators and community-organizers to shape Queermunity. Artists including TiKA Simone, R. Flex, Lucas Silveira, and the Queer Songbook Orchestra are curating individual concerts.

The entire series gets underway with the return of the Queer Slowdance–the first since the start of the pandemic–hosted by Sherwin Sullivan Tjia in the Tranzac Main Hall on Saturday, September 24. The Queer Slowdance is high school with a happy ending, as designated dancers and other attendees are immersed in an entire night of slow songs. Sherwin creates an environment of consensual respect and enjoyment for guests, and a playlist that resonates with each moment. We’ve mounted the mirror ball, and look forward to seeing the community come out for this event!

We will be sharing more information on Queermunity events through the fall.
