Dimensions 11x14" each (6 prints) archival pigment print on acid free 250 gm rag paper
The portfolio is entitled"Monk's Music" it is my translation of the classic Monk LP in a visual form.
Artist's statement:
As an improvising musician, the Tranzac is one of the few venues that support our community. In a city if not a country where venues are closing or replacing live music with DJ’s it is of the upmost importance that support is shown for the brave club owners and collectives that support innovative sounds. My art practice is centered on sound and music through sound art installations, sculptures, paintings and prints. During the pandemic I have focused on the remixing of music into visual forms through painting and prints.
I personally have performed on numerous occasions as well as attended many shows in this hallowed venue. The Southern Cross Lounge at the Tranzac is one of the true advocates of our community. For that reason I have lent my support to the Tranzac through the donation of one of my artworks which, I hope will bring joy to its future owner.
The work I have donated is a series of prints based on Thelonius Monk’s classic jazz LP Monk’s Music.

L'EGGS OF GOMEZ by Andrew Zukerman
Dimensions: 11x14" Collage on Bristol
Artist's statement: In the past few years the Toronto arts & music community has been devastated by the closure of many of its venues and cultural spaces. What has become clear is that these spaces sometimes need help from the community that depends on them to exist. Although the Tranzac is in a better position to survive, it is not immune to the pressures posed specifically by the pandemic and more generally by dint of being located in an inhospitable city. I am humbly offering this collage in lieu of money, with the hope that it may translate to money for our beloved institution.
