Wednesday, November 30: Chris Coole & John Showman - Double CD Release. Doors: 7 pm, Show: 7:30 pm, $20 (tickets available here)

Two New Albums, One Fine Night.

Join Chris Coole and John Showman as they release two exciting new albums.

In the first set, Chris and some guests will play the songs from his latest solo release The Old Man and the C Chord. The album is a collection of deeply personal, sometimes funny, sometimes heavy, and always folky original songs written throughout the pandemic.

In the second set, John and Chris will play songs from their new album Much Further Out Than Inevitable - A Fiddle and Banjo Tribute to Some Music of John Hartford.

Through twenty years and a couple of thousand shows together in bands such as The Foggy Hogtown Boys and The Lonesome Ace Stringband, John Showman and Chris Coole have developed a deep and instinctual musical bond.  Their music lurks around a truly unique space that is somewhere on the outskirts of old-time, bluegrass, and folk. On this,  their second duo release, they have focused on the song and tune book of the great John Hartford.

“John Showman has made his mark as “one of the very best and most influential fiddle players in Canada” (Steve Pritchard, CIUT 89.5 FM).

“Renowned for his clawhammer banjo picking, Coole now establishes himself as a gripping songwriter”
(Roddy Campbell, Penguin Eggs Magazine)
