The Tranzac is an accessible space. Washrooms are gender neutral with two accessible stalls. Long Winter is a fragrance-free event (please don't wear perfumes or scented products).
Long Winter is an anti-oppressive organization committed to fostering protective spaces and a culture around consent. Any conduct that is known, or ought to be known, to cause offence or humiliation, and may include persistent unwanted attention and deliberate infringement of personal space, hate speech, violence, predatory and otherwise oppressive behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated. Organizers will be roaming the event throughout the night, and naloxone kits will be on site. Organizers will be wearing glow sticks. Feel free to contact us, bar staff, or security if you feel something’s off, or message us on Facebook. Entry to the event is up to the discretion of the staff to ensure these conditions are met and a positive vibe is maintained.
We have returned to in-person events, but we acknowledge the pandemic is still ongoing. In the spirit of community care, and to help protect our team, artists, and audiences, masks are required at Long Winter except when actively performing, eating, or drinking.
Wearing a cloth mask or forgot/lost your mask? Not a problem. Grab a KN95 from the door. We encourage N95 masking. We also have a supply of rapid tests available at the door!
If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home. Audience members who begin experiencing symptoms during the festival should leave and isolate immediately. Signage and LW collective members will remind attendees of our COVID-19 protocols throughout the event.
Thank you for your understanding and compassion!
Long Winter is Toronto's essential all-ages, pay-what-you-can inter-arts series that takes place throughout our coldest season. Featuring over 200 local artists/collectives and welcoming nearly 5,000 participants from November-March, Long Winter animates multiple rooms on multiple floors, transforming spaces into immersive, collaborative environments. Events are dense and eclectic, showcasing a broad cross-section of the best in Toronto-area DIY and underground scenes. Featured work includes performance art, theatre and dance, large-scale sculptural installations, projections (single and dual screen videos, still images), visual installations (print, painting, photography collage) and interactive presentations including original video games by local programmers. Initially housed at the Great Hall on Queen Street West, Long Winter has programmed teeming shows at venues ranging from the Gladstone Hotel, to the Hearn Generating Station (Luminato), to the Galleria Mall. We are passionate about integrating diverse artistic communities and culture; gathering some of the most exciting, cutting-edge local talent under one roof.
