Join us for an evening of fresh and fiery acoustic picking with Jack Pine and The Fire (Ottawa, ON) and Unseen Strangers (Toronto, ON). A lineup of new folk and bluegrass fusion that will leave you smouldering…
JACK PINE AND THE FIRE:
The jack pine is a tree who’s seed can not be sewn without the help of a forest fire to open it’s cone. It thrives while the world around it burns to the ground. Jack Pine and the Fire, the project of Ottawa Songwriter and Producer Gareth Auden-Hole, evokes that very same feeling of finding direction in chaos. Acoustic strings are struck with power and intensity, interweaving intricate rhythms and dense melodic harmonies as Jack Pine’s voice soars above the Fire. This band has added a frantic grittiness to the rich twang of roots and country for a fresh sound that is at home in country, folk and rock circles alike and a debut album that’s “part-yesterday and part-today … like something that blew in from the hills“.
Having recently played to a packed and happy house at this year’s NXNE, this will be Jack Pine and The Fire’s second Toronto performance as they make their way to an official showcase at this year’s OCFF in Mississauga, ON.
UNSEEN STRANGERS:
The Unseen Strangers have ambitiously cultivated a musical identity shaped by good old-fashioned bluegrass, the limitless barrage of contemporary musical influences, and a relentlessly curious sense of humour. The Strangers draw from the beeps and buzzes of the modern world to create an imaginative, energetic brand of acoustic music that is unmistakably their own. The band has toured Canada three times, performing showcases at NXNE and OCFF to name a few, and is a favorite at festivals featuring genres spanning Folk, Country, Bluegrass, Rock and Electronic.
