The Tranzac’s Emerging Local Music Series will encourage and support local musicians by providing subsidized rental rates to album release  concerts for Toronto based musicians.

We recognize that finding supportive spaces for emerging local  musicians to perform can be difficult and that facility rental fees  present a barrier for musicians getting their music out to a larger audience.

The Emerging Local Music Series will consist of twelve subsidized  rentals a year. A subsidized rental will be defined as such:

1) A Main Hall rental on Sunday – Thursday: The room, staffing and  sound tech fees would be waived.
2) A Main Hall rental on Friday – Saturday: The room and staffing fees  would be waived but the presenter would pay a sound tech fee.

Musicians would like to apply to participate in this program would  provide the Tranzac’s Programming Committee with information on their  upcoming release, including biographical information, release date and  preferred show dates, at least two months before their album release.  Interested musicians would also have to confirm that they meet our  definition of an Emerging Local Music.

For the purpose of this program Emerging Local Music would be defined as:

1) The artist or majority of the band’s members live in Toronto
2) The artist has never released an album on a major label
3) The artist has not sold over 1000 copies of any release
4) The album is either being self-released or released on an independent label

On a monthly basis the Programming Committee will go through  applications and will review submissions for this program. When  reviewing submissions the committee will work to make sure that any approved submissions fit well with the scope of musical programming of  the club and that bands in question do have some form of established  audience.

If an artist is selected as part of this program, the artist will be  responsible for promotional, publicity and logistical aspects of the  show, in a similar fashion to any group that rents our space for a  performance. The Tranzac will provide publicity support in our newsletters and on our website.
